Summer Dressing

21 Jun

Today is officially the first day of summer, which I cannot be happier about. The longer days keeps me out longer, which makes for more vibrant memories and less time in front of the tube. One thing I especially love about summer is the influx of fun jewelry, like this gorgeous silver necklace from Lee Angel which adds flare to any basic outfit.

Generra Button Front Blouse, $93 at Shopbop.
Rachel Comey Morris Ankle Cuff Wedge, $311 at La Garconne.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Damisi Patchwork Little Kelsey Bag, $258 at Shopbop.

Lee Angel Fatima Silver-Plated Necklace, $300 at Net-A-Porter.

Hello Weekend!

4 Jun

As previously noted, I wear a lot of black and white, but I love to mix things up with a good splash of color, especially when it’s unexpected. I am coveting these shoes from Marais, a brand whose shoes are always comfortable, a bit retro, and consistently in the cutest colors. I also love this new take on Wayfarers, which are a little more feminine than the classic version.

Nollie Primo Pockets Racerback Tank, $15 at PacSun.
Digital Wave Skirt, $8.50 at Forever 21.
Kenneth Cole NY Metropolitan Mixed Metal Hoop Earrings, $32 at Dillard’s.
Alkemie Jewelry Horse Bangle, $155 at Shopbop.
Marais Espadrille Wedge, $92 at Marais USA.
Ray-Ban Round Wayfarer Sunglasses, $130 at Saks.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo, $398 at Shopbop.

Black & Milk Heels by Marc by Marc Jacobs

I recently purchased these and I could use some 2c on whether I should keep them. Here are my pros and cons:

PROS

*They are gorgeous
*The are comfortable
*They pair perfectly with my wardrobe
*I’m in need of some low heels for interviewing
*They were 50% off at Macys

CONS

*The top bow/strap makes my feet look a bit wide, which they are not, which makes them a bit weird
*Even at 50% they are still pricey
*They do not look good with my new minty fresh toe polish

Thoughts?

The poll is in with 2/3rds saying to return. Seems most everyone liked my nail polish color more than the shoes and once I heard “Minnie Mouse” I couldn’t stop thinking about them being part of a Disneyland costume.
