My husband and I have dinner plans tonight with our good friends from New York. I’m really excited to see them as we missed our annual New Years eve trip together this past year and we are all looking forward to meeting up and planning for 2011. We were thinking Guatemala…but I digress.
What I really should talk about is what I’ll be wearing tonight, a black Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Dress with shoulder detailing that looks not too far off from this one. Even though it’s almost officially summer, I still love wearing all black and I love to contrast feminine details with more edgy and/or earthy accessories.
Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Long Sleeve Tunic Dress, $350 at Shopbop.
Loeffler Randall Esther Wood Heel Pump, $475 at Endless.
Hand-carved Wood Bangle, $7 at J. Jill.
Elizabeth Cole Tusk Necklace, $228 at Free People.
Tory Burch Cynthia Printed Shoulder Bag, $277 at Tory Burch.
I’m pretty particular about wearing anything with type on it and making too much of a verbal statement, but these seven tops are great exceptions. It’s all about good, clean, creative use of type!
Tuesday Night Band Practice Obscurity Tank, $98 at Farfetch
ASOS Dip Dye Graphic Print Sweat Lounge Top, $34 at ASOS

Black & Milk Heels by Marc by Marc Jacobs
I recently purchased these and I could use some 2c on whether I should keep them. Here are my pros and cons:
*They are gorgeous
*The are comfortable
*They pair perfectly with my wardrobe
*I’m in need of some low heels for interviewing
*They were 50% off at Macys
*The top bow/strap makes my feet look a bit wide, which they are not, which makes them a bit weird
*Even at 50% they are still pricey
*They do not look good with my new minty fresh toe polish
The poll is in with 2/3rds saying to return. Seems most everyone liked my nail polish color more than the shoes and once I heard “Minnie Mouse” I couldn’t stop thinking about them being part of a Disneyland costume.
