Summer Dressing

2 Aug

I love this silk print dress by DKNY. The print is organic yet graphic, colorful yet muted. It’s perfectly balanced, and looks quite flattering too, especially with the proper accessories.

Summer Dressing: In the Fog

26 Jul

Today does not feel summery at all. In fact, the last couple weeks as a whole have been a bit chilly and very gray. Hence, even though it’s summer, my inspiration for today is for all those cold San Francisco girls out there….grays with a pop of color.

Weekend Dressing: Napa

23 Jul

These last few weeks have had some pretty chilly days, so my husband and I are skipping the city for Napa this weekend for some much needed sunshine. We picked the perfect weekend in that there seems to be early-morning construction all over our neighborhood this weekend.

Weekend Dressing

16 Jul

Amidst the rich, jewel-toned and neon ’80s and ’90s colors that abound, nudes & pastels are slowly making a comeback as well. I love the subtlety of pale colors and sheer fabrics, especially in soft pink and grey. There is something both ethereal and sexy about this trend, don’t you think?

Summer Dressing

12 Jul

One of my girlfriends was wearing these great skinny cargo pants from J Brand the other day, and I couldn’t get over how stylish they look. Unlike most cargos with bulky unflattering pockets, they are unique and slimming and are a great break from jeans. The utilitarian silhouette pairs well with a floaty tank top, cage sandals and simple jewelry.

The Clog Trend

29 Jun

I clearly remember my first pair of clogs. I had wanted them for ages and when I finally got them I had a whole order of clothes to pair them with. I wore them through blisters and on to callouses. I continued to wear them even though they made me trip all the time. That was 1993.

These days I’m not as certain about clogs, in part because you have to be careful which kinds you buy in order to not spend weeks wearing them in, and also because there are just so many damn ugly styles out there. (Versions so ugly they take a perfectly cute outfit and ruin it with troll feet.) That said, when they are done right, they can be damn adorable (and comfortable) and recent styles tend to be much more creative than those of the 90s!

Here are seven styles I’m digging…

The Sexy Clog: Lace Up Corset Clog, $245 at No6

The Classic Summer Clog: Ollie Clogs, $80 at Topshop

The T-Strap Clog: Sonoma Clog, $168 at Free People

The Fashion Forward Clog: Twelfth St By Cynthia Vincent Tamara Clog, $350 at Revolve Clothing

The Spanish Clog: Sanita Frida Clog, $51 at ASOS

The Chunky High Heel Clog: Jeffrey Campbell Charlie Clogs, $150 at Singer22

Summer Style

28 Jun

One of my absolute favorite types of outfits to wear is a breezy dress with flat sandals and a cross-body bag. Easy, comfortable and with a million opportunities for variation. I love this dress by Joie because the silhouette is forgiving yet sexy and paired with clogs it is on trend yet natural, not at all as if you’re trying too hard. I can see the whole outfit paired with a topknot.

Joie French Postcard Queen Dress, $188 at Revolve Clothing.
Leather Woven Detail Bag, $60 at Topshop.
Denmark Clog, $88 at Urban Outfitters.
Nuxoll Sunglasses, $12 at Aldo.
Gorjana Stevenson Bracelet, $68 at Shopbop.
